Here are two completely different – but equally lovely – approaches to the big night:

The Natural Beauty

Taking the natural approach can be very romantic. This sweet look emphasizes your features and is easy to maintain all night long. This is a great option for an intimate dinner at home, a daytime date, or a night out dancing.

• Dewy Eyed. Soft, shimmery eye color is a great way to play up your eyes without a load of makeup. Choose shades that complement your natural skin tone. Light browns, coppers, and peaches work for every complexion.

• Kiss, Kiss. For a lip that looks beautiful as well as natural, try a nude lipstick or a slightly tinted gloss. Before applying, make sure you exfoliate your lips so the color goes on smoothly. One method is as simple as it as sweet –  use sugar! Simply mix a small pinch of brown sugar with a tablespoon of olive oil and apply the mixture to your lips. Let it sit for about a minute, then gently rub the mixture into your lips. Rinse completely with cold water.

This dramatic look is all about glamour! If you really want to knock your sweetheart’s socks off, opt for sultry makeup, sexy hair, and bold color. No matter where you go with your Valentine, this high-volume beauty look is sure to make an impression.

• See Red.  Is there anything more dramatic than red? This Valentine’s Day, get into the festive mood by wearing the color of love. If a red lip or a vibrant crimson dress is too intense for your tastes, you can always opt for a red polish on your nails and toes.

• Go Big.  Hair with a ton of volume is so glamourous. Depending on your hair type, a sleek blowout or big tousled waves can really be the ultimate cherry on the top of your Valentine’s look. Stop by for a blow-dry, or create waves at home using a 1 inch curling iron, some hair clips, and a light hold hairspray (we love Privé’s Texture Spray!). Start by dividing your hair into four sections. Begin curling hair at the bottom section on one side, keeping the barrel of your curling iron open while spiraling hair away from your face, working from root to ends. Leave an inch or two of hair out of the iron to get a loose and romantic look. Once you’ve curled the bottom section, move to the top, then repeat with the other side. Allow hair to cool and then spritz with hairspray, then work through curls with your fingers.

• Meow! One of the hottest current beauty trends is the dramatic retro-inspired “cat eye” black liner technique. This look is best done with a liquid eyeliner. Starting from the inner corner of the eye, draw a thin straight line across your eye to the outer edge. Then, starting at the end of the line at your outer eye, draw a small wing upwards away from your eye. If you need to reapply, go in the same direction every time and not back and forth. Finish with two coats of black mascara for an even more dramatic look.
