Celebrate Spring With Natural Beauty Treatments

Natural homemade facial masks .

Even though we get to avoid much of the harsh winter weather that plagues the Northern climes during the winter, welcoming spring always feels good. We think there is nothing better to compliment spring fever than a natural, fresh-feeling look. We’re lucky to live in a time with amazing products and services that keep us looking beautiful. But every now and again, a natural beauty should get in touch with her inner nature goddess and whip up a concoction herself! There are plenty of easy treatments and masques that you can create using things you probably already have in your kitchen.

Get in the mood for warmer weather with these amazing nature-inspired beauty treatments:

Fresh Faced

We swear by our Glycolic peel and microdermabrasian treatments, but when you can’t get into the spa, you can create an at-home microdermabrasian and fruit peel in your own kitchen that will revitalize your skin using strawberries, lemon, yogurt, and a buff puff. First, crush about 6 strawberries onto your puff (you can also use a different grainy fruit, like a kiwi) and then gently massage onto your skin for about 30 seconds. This mimics the action of a microdermabrasian. Rinse off your treatment with sparkling water, taking care to remove any stray seeds or pulp. Next, mix together 6 ounces of plain yogurt (natural and organic is best) with the juice of 1/4 a lemon. Spread a thick layer onto your face and let set for five minutes. Finally, rinse with warm water, pat your face dry with a clean towel, and apply your preferred gentle face moisturizer.

Healthy Hair

No matter what your hair needs, there is a natural ingredient that can help! We personally love the soothing effects of avocado – the light oils mimics the natural oils in our hair, so they won’t weigh down or dull your mane. The fatty acids also help restore shine and softness, and can even soothe a dry scalp. You can create an avocado masque to use in the shower using one avocado, an egg yolk, and one tablespoon of jojoba oil. Before your shower, mix together all the ingredients until smooth in a non-glass bowl. After shampooing and rinsing your hair as usual, apply the mixture to your clean hair. Massage throughout the hair and into your scalp, and let it sit for five minutes. Wash out and apply conditioner, then style as usual. Also, for a quick fix, coconut oil makes a great hair treatment. Simply warm a small pinch between your fingers and massage into the tips of your hair. You can even apply before bed and wash it off when you shower in the morning for a treatment that works while you sleep.
